My notes and thoughts based off a sermon by Mark Mayberry with a focus on WISDOM.

WISDOM

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Pursue Divine Wisdom
To be counted wise, we must pursue wisdom, instruction, and understanding. "If you seek her (her being wisdom) as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God." (Proverbs 2:4-5) "Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her." (Proverbs 4:5-8) "How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver." (Proverbs 16:16) "Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding." (Proverbs 23:23)

Store up Knowledge
To be counted as wise, we must store up knowledge (Proverbs 9:7-9; 10:14; Ecclesiastes 12:11)

Be Careful Regarding Companions
To be counted as wise, we must be careful regarding our companions (Proverbs 13:20; cf 2:16-20; 1 Corinthians 15:33-34)

Control our Emotions
To be counted as wise, we must control our emotions (Proverbs 29:8; cf 16:14-15; James 3:17-18)

Listen to Revelation
To be counted as wise, we must hear and heed divine revelation (Proverbs 1:20-23; Luke 11:31; 1 Corinthians 10:14-22)

Speak the Truth
To be counted as wise, we must speak words of truth (Proverbs 37:30-31; 49:1-4; Ecclesiastes 12:11)
