it's getting there!

I'm getting this blog MUCH closer to where I want it to be, but it's still a slight work in progress. I've been anxious to get this blog up and running efficiently in order to be a helpful tool for myself and others, but it's been hard balancing all of this alongside trying to manage all of life's obstacles and commitments! Thank you so much for your patience!

TURMERIC CIDER tonic

If you can brew a cup of tea, you can make a tonic. All you need is the right ingredients and a touch of patience — some whisking, stirring, or steeping is required. If you are looking for a tonic that is a little spicy and very soothing than give this Turmeric-Cider Tonic a try.

Serves 2 to 3

This warm tonic is particularly well suited to the fall and winter, when fresh apple cider is readily available. At other times of year, substitute apple juice, if you like.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cup unsweetened plain almondmilk
  • 1 1/4 cup unsweetened apple cider
  • 1 (2-inch) piece fresh turmeric root, peeled and finely grated
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon cider vinegar

Method
Combine almondmilk, cider and turmeric in a small saucepan and vigorously whisk together. Add cinnamon sticks and bring just to a simmer. Lower heat to medium-low and simmer very gently for 2 minutes. (If mixture separates, whisk or stir to bring it back together.) Remove from heat and stir in vinegar. Strain into mugs and serve.
