it's getting there!

I'm getting this blog MUCH closer to where I want it to be, but it's still a slight work in progress. I've been anxious to get this blog up and running efficiently in order to be a helpful tool for myself and others, but it's been hard balancing all of this alongside trying to manage all of life's obstacles and commitments! Thank you so much for your patience!

SUNDAY sermon notes POLITICAL RULERS

My notes and thoughts based off a sermon by Mark Mayberry entitled EXCELLENT THINGS concerning POLITICAL RULERS.

EXCELLENT THINGS

We should be thankful for the excellent things from above, and things that are praiseworthy here below. May we conduct ourselves in a way that values things of value.

Obviously God is excellent and without doubt worthy of our praise. There is no question of that. But do we sometimes forget to show praise and honor to those here on earth whom God has placed in political positions? It's so easy to cut down and slander those that are in the office. Especially because they are men. They make mistakes and they're not perfect. In fact, none of us here on earth are perfect. Only Jesus was. But the Bible tells us that we need to give these men in political office the honor due to them.

POLITICAL RULERS

Political rulers should be honored because of their position. "Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men - as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king." (1 Peter 2:13-17)

Like I said, we know that we are to honor and respect God, but let us not forget that political rulers also need our honor and respect. And they need our prayers as well. "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior." (1 Timothy 2:1-3)
